Material

This product is a seamless mechanical tubing / pipe made of low-carbon carbon steel (Grade 1010) according to ASME SA 519 (often aligned with ASTM A519). It is manufactured without welds (seamless) to provide uniform mechanical and structural properties along its length, making it suitable for mechanical, structural, and light pressure applications.

Major Characteristics

  1. Good Formability & Ductility — With its low carbon content, Grade 1010 is easily bent, formed, and cold-drawn without cracking. 

  2. Excellent Weldability — It can be welded by common techniques (MIG, TIG, arc welding) without special preheating or post-heat treatment under many conditions.

  3. Moderate Strength — Though not as strong as medium- or high-carbon steels, its strength is adequate for structural, mechanical and light pressure applications. 

  4. Uniform Properties (Seamless) — Absence of a weld seam yields more consistent mechanical behavior and avoids weld-related defects.

  5. Cost-Effective — Lower alloying content and ease of manufacturing keep cost relatively lower compared to alloyed steels.

  6. Surface Finish & Tolerance Friendly — Suitable for mechanical finishing, machining, and close-tolerance applications, consistent with A519 tube usage. 

Standards / Specifications

  • ASME SA 519 / ASTM A519 — Standard for seamless carbon and alloy steel mechanical tubing. It defines allowed grades, chemistry, dimensions, and mechanical testing. 

  • ASTM A519 / A519M — The more general specification from ASTM, which ASME SA519 mirrors or adopts. 

  • Mill Test Reports / EN 10204 (Type 3.1 / 3.2) — Many suppliers issue quality certificates per European standard EN 10204, to show compliance of chemical and mechanical properties. 

  • Applicable supplementary standards — Depending on use, supplementary tests like impact tests, NACE (corrosion), hydrogen-induced cracking, etc., may be requested.
